Eating the placenta? It's not for everyone
It’s not for the weak-of-stomach, that’s for sure. A blogger over at ParentDish recalls a recent story of a woman who ate her own placenta after the birth of her first baby. Willingly. Asked for it, even. Does the idea of eating your placenta totally gross you out? It seems that there are women who choose to do this because, as they argue, most other animals eat their own placentas, And they believe the placenta contains nutrients and hormone which some believe can help the woman bounce back more quickly from the childbirth experience. Would you eat your own placenta if you thought it could heal you mentally and physically much faster?

[Does anyone else but us think that probably the reason animals eat their own placentas is largely due to protecting themselves and their newborns from predators? Just a thought. We don't know for sure.]

UGH!!! I don't think I could eat my baby's placenta, even if its nutrients would help me bounce back quicker after the birth. Placentas in real life are not so pretty to look at...I'm sure they taste even worse!

sure, the argument is that other mamals do it, we can get nutrients else where, but nature created this, we created this, why shouldn't we benefit from it? on the other hand, why should we lose out by not ingesting it? so many women suffer from depression after the birth, why? a significant drop in hormones after the placenta is gone. ingesting the placenta is the most natural source of hormones, it your own hormones!! I actually had both of my children's placenta's dried, ground, and encapsulated, then took them in pill form so that i could reap the benefits over a month or so rather than just one day of high hormones. http://PlacentaBenefits.info has tons of more info though, check it out!

There is no way I could do this. I couldn't even look at mine, never mind eat it!

WOW! That is just gross!! Why would you even think about eating it! Yes we are human and not animals! We are a little bit different breed! We don't eat our placentas after we give birth! Sorry but you might need to get checked out if you think that this is ok!
